Players will be able to use the Company of Heroes 3 Essence Editor to create maps & scenarios, game modes, and tuning packs when the game releases. Another important addition to Company of Heroes 3's day one content is mod and Steam Workshop support.
The mode includes 12 Battlegroups, which the developer describes as "the evolution of the Doctrine and Commander systems from CoH1 and CoH2." Players can pick between 14 different multiplayer maps, also supporting 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 maps centered on capturing victory points and depleting your enemy's tickets. Skirmish versus AI will also be available at launch, supporting 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 maps revolving around a victory point win condition.Ĭompany of Heroes 3's multiplayer features four playable factions at launch, boasting over 120 different units. You get to command ground, air, and naval forces as you advance, while building supply lines, developing a spy network, and deciding which engagements to prioritize alongside how to level your 5 starting Companies.ĬoH 3's North African Operation is a more traditional linear campaign, that puts players in control of the Deutsches Afrikakorps – faction that's new to the series – and which I got to sample for our preview. The dynamic Italian campaign caters to sandbox enthusiasts, giving players control of the overall war effort in the region. At release, we can play through two campaigns that provide different experiences.
